er...nevermind.

Scratch that last post, it actually took me under 5 minutes. Anyway, it should be quick and easy to get the info based on the common name now.

Working on something.

Working on a javascript for the page that will allow quick and easy access to what we've found, and descriptions of them via a set of labled buttons. Should be done by tomorrow, assuming I'm not lazy tonight.

Maybe?

The only thing I can find is the Water Oak, which looks very similar, but not exactly the same. Just in case, the water oak is Quercus nigra.

Taxonomy of that lizard.

The evil lizard I posted about on an earlier day is the Prairie lizard, also known as the Fence Runner, Fence Lizard, or Gray Lizard. It is Sceloporus consobrinus. I identified it based on the easily noticable blue markings on either side of it's stomach, a sign of mating, which aren't visible in the picture.

Plant Atonomy

leaf type: Dicot: the leaf is on a petiole instead of a sheath
Margins: undulate: for the irregular pattern on the leaf's edges
venation: simple pinnate: the other veins branch off of a central vein
Roots: has a fibrous root system because it is in soft soil with little rocks near it

Plant I found (the creeping woodsorrel)

It's not what it looks like.

I don't know WHAT it is, but it isn't what it looks like.

And here is my archenemy, the prairie lizard, the most cunning, evil, and camera-shy creature on the earth. taxonomic specs later.

I will go back and edit all of these when I know what they are. Brandon B.

Ton of pics......for a later day.

I went to the trail, as I posted that I would do earlier, and got quite a few pictures. I found two plants, two fungi, two trees, and possibly a Herp. I say possibly because I have recently been introduced to the true nature of lizards, and they are evil, evil creatures who enjoy tormenting biology students by running the second the camera is in place. I've yet to identify any of these, and it will probably be a while before I post them. My only reason for this is that I really don't feel like it, and I'll have plenty of time to look it up tomorrow or saturday. -Bway

Ready to get some pics

I'm going to go to the tucker creek trail after school, see if I can find any trees. I hope I don't scare them away!-Bway

Sister Scared Away another chance

on Sunday after church i got home and went to get a real camera so i could take some pictures of some of the animals that come into our back yard in the evening. when i got out there i saw a rabbit in the yard but could not see it. i told my mother to watch the rabbit just in case it moved but my sister came out and accidentally scared it off before i could get back with my glasses. after wards i decided to sit out there and wait for it to come back but it did not. So Close....Yet So Far

Thursday was almost a success but ended up as a failure. on my way to a restaurant i saw a very interesting looking bird and asked if my mother had a zoom on her phone. she did but it would not zoom in on the bird.
posted by Brandon S.

Phone does not zoom

Another attempt on Wednesday turned out to be a failure as well. turns out that my phone cannot zoom in when i take pictures and i could not get close to the bird. posted by Brandon S.

Failed bird shot

Failed to get a picture of a bird on Tuesday because it flew away before i could take a picture of it with my phone. hoping to find more birds and to be more aware of where my phone is. Posted by Brandon S.
